Not to be confused with solid/engineered wood, this product is made of either HDF or MDF with an image bonded or laminated onto the top so it closely resembles wood, marble, stone & granite. Laminate flooring is considered a floating floor as it is not laid on an adhesive. It is laid on a suitable laminate underlay which helps promote soundproofing, plus, as some of them have a built in DPM (damp proof membrain) can help act as a moisture protection barrier should there be any rising damp.
Laminate flooring does not like moisture, so is not suitable in bathrooms. If water gets into the backing material, it causes the product to warp and split. Spillages should be quickly cleaned away. This product is easy to clean.
