Parquet laminate flooring
Classic herringbone and chevron patterns are set to see a revival in 2016. The pleasing geometrical shapes can be adapted for modern interiors with a dash of bold colour. Alternatively solid timber and premium vinyl flooring from a luxury brand such as Amtico, with a parquet layout in natural wood tones, will suit eclectic and vintage-inspired interiors.
Grey-toned wood and vinyl flooring
Grey has become the most popular neutral around – it is an extremely versatile choice and enhances a number of different styles, from Scandinavian schemes to minimalist and industrial interiors. Wood and wood-effect vinyl flooring in grey tones can be used to instantly provide the foundation for on-trend interior décor and dove grey carpet is a luxurious yet practical choice.
Hyper-natural and rustic flooring
Far from engineered perfection, wood flooring with natural imperfections and the grain character of raw timber is set to grow in popularity. Consumers will increasingly seek products that bring them closer to nature, and that look and feel authentic – the desire for rustic character doesn't only apply to solid wood flooring; laminates and realistic luxury vinyl flooring and tile can also satisfy the desire for a fashionable vintage wood floor.
Dark and blonde wood flooring
Extremes of the spectrum – dark and 'blonde' wood tones – will be trending in 2016. Deep espresso tones of walnut give a heritage look whilst pale oak, maple and ash shades will appeal to a more contemporary/modern sensibility.
Carpets to make a statement
Statement-making carpets will be big news in 2016 – think bold, dramatic colours or exciting, retro-inspired patterns. 'Green' carpets – those which are eco-friendly, not necessarily British Racing or mint! – will also surge in popularity; choose from sisal, raffia and sea grass for a rugged natural look.
